US BA Mentor.
Joan has a unique combination of experience in business process design and information technology, bringing strengths to BA Mentor in virtual facilitation, business modeling notations, and tools. With over 20 years of practical BA experience, her current emphasis is the design and facilitation of elicitation and problem-solving workshops for both local groups and “virtual” teams.
Joan’s business analysis skills were honed primarily in the Insurance Sector in and around Philadelphia. The BA roles Joan has undertaken cover the whole spectrum, including operational workflow review, technology assessment and planning, requirements definition and enterprise analysis. Her mentoring experience began as Lead Consultant in a Business Advocacy group where she was directly responsible for evolving BA professional capabilities and services as repeatable processes. Joan has mentored competencies in project management, client relations and business analysis, and created a learning environment to build internal skills for handling discovery, requirements and implementation assignments.
Joan is now based in Maine in the north-eastern United States, and is the Principal at J Davis Consulting, LLC (specialists in techniques and tools that enable business analysis with distributed groups). She is a guest author covering virtual collaboration topics for Bridging the Gap blog for Business Analysts. In her free time Joan enjoys the great outdoors by hiking, bicycling, sculling, and painting en plein air.
